The Merchandise Planner will be responsible for creating and managing Tops Down Financial Plans and in-season forecasting for multiple departments. This person will identify business risks and opportunities to maximize sales, profitability and inventory turn objectives. This person will also develop strategic Tops Down Plan - sales, margin, inventory and will have an emphasis at the department/season code level. The Merchandise Planner will be responsible for partnering with the merchant team to identify key business concepts and opportunities. The Merchandise Planner will also be responsible for forecasting sales, margin, markdowns and inventories on a weekly / monthly basis and will recommend strategies to maximize profitability. This person will develop and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional partners - merchants, visual, store operations and allocation. This person will be responsible for collaborating with peers to ensure consistency of information and the sharing of best practices.
Job Requirements :
BA/BS degree required plus 2-4 years experience in a financial role. The candidate must have experience in Top Down and / or Bottoms Up Financial Planning processes and systems. This person must have a clear understanding of basic financial measures: sales, gross margin, weeks on hand / weeks of supply, etc and how to maximize them. The candidate should possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills. This person must be able to clearly present and support business strategies as well as take ownership to drive the profitability of the department and how it impacts the total business. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. The ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines is essential. The candidate must be flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.
